The Copyright School Challenge 2024/25 Award Ceremony was held at the National Library Building as part of the Asian Festival of Children’s Content 2025 on the 24th of May, 2025.
The theme of “Discovery” was brought to life through the sheer creativity of the students, where budding Primary 3 and 4 writers penned essays, and Primary 5 and 6 writers wrote creative poetry pieces. Students from Secondary School onwards did not miss out on the fun either, where they were tasked in up to groups of four students to produce a video of their very own.
CLASS invited Dr. Sharon Wong, Executive Director from the Hong Kong Reprographic Rights Licensing Society (HKRRLS), a close partner of CLASS in the copyright scene onboard the judging panel this year, helping provide a fresh perspective on the judging process. Evidenced by the longer deliberation times taken by our judges, the bar for this year’s competition was undoubtedly raised, with the top entries separated by the finest of margins.
In the Essay Writing Competition, Foong Chun Jin Tia from Raffles Girls’ Primary School came in 1st, with Akshara Nehru from Methodist Girls’ School (Primary) and Charlotte Yue Qian Le from CHIJ Primary (Toa Payoh) finishing close behind in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In the Poetry Competition, it was similarly a close fight, with Anahita Nandi from Dover Court International School taking home 1st place, with Brielle Wu Ziyinn from Changkat Primary School and Eison Koh Chin Shuen, a homeschooled student, taking the 2nd and 3rd place respectively. It was also a an experience for the top participants of both categories of the Creative Writing Competition where their entries were published into an official book by Singapore Asia Publishers!
For the Video Competition, judges were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the video submissions, with a wide variety of styles and techniques on full display. In the end, The Goats from Bukit Batok Secondary School clinched the 1st position, while Team Squid from North Vista Secondary School finished 2nd and Glitter Copycorn from Singapore Chinese Girls’ School coming in 3rd.
Having viewed all submitted entries, CLASS was delighted to “discover” ourselves that the spark of creativity continues to be ignited within our youths today. We once again congratulate all winners and send our heartfelt thanks to all participants!
