Copyright School Challenge 2024/25: Video Competition

 


Back and better than ever before – The Copyright School Challenge: Video Competition now enters its fourth year!
With a new theme of  DISCOVERY, we call on all students aged 13 to 18 from all local and international schools to come participate and showcase the idea of discovery through a creative video!

About the Competition

In its fourth annual video competition, CLASS continues to encourage students to champion respect for copyright through the production of their very own cinematic masterpiece. Open up to individuals or teams of up four students, the winning entry will be the one that best reflects the theme of discovery, or best conveys the idea of what discovery means to the participants. All submissions must be creative and original and must be no longer than 90 seconds in length.

Eligibility

– Participants must be aged 13 to 18.

– Participants can participate as an individual or as a team of up to 4 people.

– The video must be an original work and must be no longer than 90 seconds in length. File size should not exceed 200MB.

– The video must be submitted in high resolution (MP4 or MOV file) by Friday, 28 March 2025. 

Workshop

There will be a video workshop help in conjunction with the competition. The video workshop is an opportunity for participants to explore video production and editing methods while also learning about the importance of copyright and originality. The workshop will be reserved for those who register their interest for the competition by 1 March 2025 and is limited to a first-come, first -served basis. Details of the session will be provided by January 2025.

Announcement of Winners

– Winners will be notified during the prize presentation ceremony at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) in May 2025. Details will be provided at a later date.

– Winners must be present for the awards presentation ceremony. The date and time will be announced at a later date.

How to Participate

  1. Create your video based on the theme of Discovery.
  2. Submit your video in high resolution (MP4 or MOV file) by Friday, 28 March 2025.

**Organisers reserve the right to assess the competition status which is subject to change. The scheduled video production will be held regardless of outcome of the competition’s status.

Terms and Conditions

All registration and entries must be filled and submitted by the team leader, parents, teachers, or guardians of the participants (student or child). Each participant can submit only one entry, and videos must be in MP4 or MOV format and no larger than 200MB in size.

Participants (students) must submit their entries by Friday, 28 March 2025. All submissions must be made via the online form.

Only entries that are received by CLASS by the closing date will be eligible for the Competition. CLASS will not accept responsibility for any entries that are lost, delayed, or damaged.  Proof of submitting an online entry is not equivalent to proof that CLASS has received the entry.

All entries must be an original piece and developed by the individual or team. The entries must not have been published on any other forms of media (including the internet, social media, newspapers, and school publications). Entries must not have been submitted for any other contests before.

The video workshop is free of charge for registered participants of the competition.

Any entries containing excerpts, translations, or plagiarism, infringing on others’ copyrights, will be disqualified, and rendered invalid. In the event of any disqualified or invalid entries, revocation of any award and return of prizes will be required.

All personal information including contact details must be provided and accurate. The registrants will be contactable via email and/ or phone for the purpose of the competition only.

Prize-winning entries may be  published, distributed and used for promotional purposes by the Organiser without prior notification.

The decision of the judges is final, and no discussion will be entered in relation to their decision.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony during the Asia Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) in May 2025, with the date to be confirmed. Parents/guardians and teachers including the participants must be present for the ceremony to receive the prize.
